January’s Micro Four Nerds Photo Contest Winners!
So 2024 is the year of photo contests, and I’m very happy to say that month one was a roaring success. We had over 600 entries, and I just wanted to showcase some superb photography in this blog post for you now. The prompt was “Blue.” Here is the winner announcement / critique video if you’d like to see the very best entries, as well as the top three winners.
Here are the top three images from January
In third place, we have this stunning abstract photo from @cjevan.lens (click the link to see their handle Instagram page!) I thought the composition was so strong. Even though the scene is quite busy, it’s composed in such a masterful a way that you know exactly where to look. It has such a dream-like feel to it, and I think it fit the prompt of “blue” perfectly.
In second place, we have this cheeky, candid moment by @branonedbalek. Of course, the blue door fits the prompt perfectly, but I think this image tells such a brilliant story too.
In first place, we have such an accomplished indoor photography shot taken by @phanthomas_photography Aside from this being a brilliant image in its own right, it really spoke to me about the struggles of photography in winter! The photographer is from Berlin, and sometimes it’s so hard to stay motivated with photography when the weather is bad. This image is so very well done, and I hope it inspires us all to keep taking photos, even if we haven’t seen the sun in weeks!
So those were the winners of the very first Micro Four Nerds photo contest! If you’d like to join in, just join the mailing list and the prompts are announced on the 1st of every month. (And feel free to email me and I can send you the info if it’s mid-month and you’d like to join in the current contest.)
I hope you find these images as inspiring as I do, and thanks to everyone who has taken part so far.
